Dallas & Fort Worth Plastic Surgery – Preparing for Plastic Surgery
What should I expect at my initial pre-op visit?
Choosing to have plastic surgery is an important personal decision. It is normal for patients to feel somewhat anxious before surgery. We want to help you understand what to expect so that you may approach your surgery with peace of mind.
Your pre-operative visit will normally be scheduled 2 weeks before surgery. At this time, you will receive a detailed information booklet about your procedure. This personalized booklet provides in-depth information (over 20 pages) about what to expect before, during, and after surgery.
Our patients appreciate this information booklet since it answers the most common questions about each procedure as well as many questions they did not even consider asking. Dr. White believes that patients who are well-informed about what to expect are less anxious about surgery.
What should I expect at my final pre-op visit?
Dr. White prefers to see his patients again shortly before the date of surgery. This extra visit is usually scheduled 1-2 days before your procedure so that he may answer any last minute questions you may have.
What should I remember to do the night before my surgery?
Before any type of surgery, no food or drink is permitted after midnight the night before your procedure. This is for your safety to minimize your risk during anesthesia.
You should have already made arrangements to have someone available to drive you home and stay with you for the first one or two days at home.
Is there anything I should remember to do on the morning of my surgery?
Don't eat or drink anything! If you take a daily medication, you may take it with a small sip of water early in the morning. Wear comfortable loose-fitting clothes that do not go over your head and please do not wear any make-up or jewelry.
