For close to thirty years, I have haunted the offices of the best plastic surgeons in Dallas hoping to find one who could restore my stomach to some semblance of how it looked before I had children. I never could find one whose results were good enough for me to want to have a tummy tuck until I met Dr. White.   

Dr. White was the only surgeon to suggest an extended abdominoplasty, which would remove loose skin all the way around to my back and, along with some liposuction on my legs, might actually give me a shape better than I had before any of my pregnancies. He was the only one to offer me the possibility of a scar so fine and undisruptive of the surrounding skin that I wouldn’t mind its extra length, a scar well-placed enough to be covered by almost any bikini. And he was the only one to give me hope for an attractive, completely normal-looking belly button.

Dr. White is the most conscientious surgeon I have ever encountered … the most hands on, and the most dedicated to the welfare of his patients.  But most importantly, he gives extraordinary tummy tucks.  He accomplished everything he told me he could and basically erased thirty years on my torso along with the effects of four C-sections and one appendectomy.

Having had two beautiful children didn’t come without a price.  My body took a heavy hit from the physical stress caused by my pregnancies.  Having researched a lot of plastic surgeons in the area, I chose Dr. White for my procedures (Tummy Tuck and Liposuction) --- and I’m sure glad I did.  After all, whether you came out a defective model from the assembly line or whether wear and tear of daily living took its toll, there’s nothing wrong with going back in for some repairs!!!

Bad results from cosmetic surgeries are more common that one would think.  Having personally seen horribly rippled skin from some overzealous liposuction, I had flags set in my head on the criteria for choosing a plastic surgeon for my procedure.  I believe plastic surgery is a subtle field and the intricacies can take many years to master.  It is precisely these intricacies and attention to detail (that translates to quality results for his patients) that impresses me the most about Dr. White.  This is one case where you DO get what you pay for.  I’m glad I didn’t go for any “deals” and chose smart. 

Also important to me was that I choose a surgeon who cares for my health and well-being as much as he cares about the results. Anybody who sends in a nurse to check on me post op wasn’t going to make the cut.  I could not have asked for a better doctor here than Dr. White.  Both pre and post op surgical care was excellent to the nth degree.  Dr. White personally checked on me several times over the course of my hospital stay (though it was a weekend) and was always promptly available to answer any and all questions.  I personally clocked it once that the time from when I called his after-hours line to when he returned my call was less than a minute!  Such commitment to patients is rare and makes the difference between a good surgeon and an exceptional one.  It also made me very comfortable to know that Dr. White would never compromise health and safety for looks.

Talking about the results themselves --- they could not have been any better!  Eyes pop when I tell people that I have children.  While I never obsessed about my looks, the admiring glances are enough to know that I look the best I ever have.  But even more important to me is the happiness and much needed confidence it gives me.  After all, there is no cosmetic for beauty like happiness.  Thank you, Dr. White!

"You're not wearing that—are you?"  Those words from my mother led me to Dr. White.

I had liposuction by another surgeon and months later my thighs were still so uneven you could see the difference in my clothes. I had a lot of swelling, bruising, and pain after my surgery.  I only got to see the doctor once after my surgery because on all of my follow-up appointments I was only seen by his nurse.  Needless to say, I was disappointed by my first plastic surgery experience.

I thought all plastic surgeons were alike until I found Dr. White.  I came to Dr. White for a correction after my first liposuction.  What a difference—my mom couldn't believe the change!  I had very little swelling or bruising and much less discomfort than with my first liposuction surgery by the other doctor.

I needed to have a hysterectomy because of fibroids, but I have really wanted to have a tummy tuck for years.  I decided to see Dr. White to find out what would be involved in doing both operations at the same time. I discovered that I could take a negative (needing to have a hysterectomy) and turn it into a positive (getting a flat new tummy with a tummy tuck).  That is exactly what I did.  What a difference! I now have a barely visible scar, a belly button that looks like all the famous fashion models and a waistline for the first time in my life. Needless to say, my clothes fit better and I feel so much better about myself.

Dr. White also reconstructed my husband's nose over a year ago.  He previously had two rhinoplasties by another plastic surgeon and was still unable to breathe well.  Dr. White not only made his nose look great, he also fixed his breathing problem.  My husband is now able to breathe better than ever and doesn't snore anymore.  The good night's sleep is priceless!

I write for a living.  Every day I seem to be able to find unique sentiments to describe how various firms serve their customers in meaningful ways.  Rarely am I at a loss for words.

When it comes to you, Dr. White, however --- as I think back over my doctor/patient relationship over the last four years or so --- I find myself filled with emotion.  How do I sufficiently thank someone who has so positively impacted my life?

When I initially came to you, it was with a simple requirement.  Since that time, I’ve had several elective procedures completed.  Then I was filled with doubt.  Now I believe.

You’ve shown me that perfect plastic surgery requires the skill and patience of a sculptor.  You’ve demonstrated that for you, both fine craftsmanship and the safety of your patients far outweigh any monetary gain you might derive from a procedure.  You’ve helped me understand that having “MD” after your name isn’t a title or a rank that makes you better than your patients.  For you, it means nights, weekends, tirelessly reassuring those who fear, cheering someone who hurts, checking in when most would merely take off, and perfecting what others might think is “fine”.  I’ve found that your dedication is never-ending.

What leaves me without the right words, though, isn’t any of these things.  It’s the contradiction in terms.  You operate on the outside.  You make better what nature has let go astray.  But somehow you also transform what’s beneath the surface.  You routinely show your patients how much you care.  You give of yourself 24 hours a day.  You make each and every one of us feel like better people on the inside simply by association with you.  The gift you give can’t be assigned a value.

And so, though I searched for something more meaningful, I’m back at two words that seem dismally inept.  Thank you….

My tummy tuck experience couldn’t have gone any smoother.  From the moment I met Dr. White, I felt like I was his number one priority.  He explained in detail numerous times with me and my husband about what to expect from day one of the procedure to recovery.  It all happened just like he said it would.  I am more than pleased with my results. If you are buying a car you have options.  Do you want the very best (leather seats, air conditioner) or would you be happy to lower the windows in the hot sun and hope for a cool breeze?

When looking for a plastic surgeon, you also have choices.  There are many options you can choose.

To me these decisions are important in finding THE Plastic Surgeon that I would trust with my life.  Cost may be an issue for some, but since each person and their needs are different, it is a personalized surgical decision.  No one wants to have a cookie cutter (one size fits all) surgery.  Yes, I probably could have shopped around and found a bargain.  But what I wanted was a personalized plan that would fit my needs, my body, and provide the best outcome for me.  Safety was also a major concern for me.  I did not want to worry about the surgical procedure or the results.

I researched many physicians before I decided to have Dr. White perform my surgery.  They all had credentials, they all had experience --- but once you meet Dr. White, you will see why he was my choice.  It is as if you are the only person in the world during that time.

My first encounter was with his office staff.  I found that the professional staff was friendly, efficient, and very knowledgeable.  They have the kind of personalities that make you feel comfortable.  Also, I saw that they took an interest in me.  I was not just another patient.  They are a delight to talk with and can provide you with information should you need to ask questions.

When I visited Dr. White, my expectations were not very high.  I wanted to have the excess fat …“waddle” as I called it … removed from my abdomen.  During our consultation he showed me the possible results that I could achieve.  It was far more than I had expected.  I was amazed.

I have a friend in a different city that had the same operation.  We compared notes.  Her surgery was acceptable, but mine was excellent.

Dr. White takes the time and patience with each person to make them comfortable.  His explanations were very detailed.  However, his one-on-one did not stop at that point.  During my hospital stay he continued to be an ever present force …checking and double checking on me.  Once I returned to his office for follow-up visits, his wonderful care continued.  He provided excellent care.  His skills and techniques provided me with very little discomfort and very easy recovery.

Dr. White is a very special surgeon.  He has a vision.  His talent to turn a “waddle” into a beautiful tummy is just the greatest!  His ability to perform surgery and be the very best is and has been very important to me.

Patient …Knowledgeable … Concerned … Dedicated … Experienced.  These are only a few of the words that I could use to describe Dr. White.

Dr. White is not just a good surgeon --- he is an excellent surgeon.  His personality and professional manner far exceeds any physician that I ever met.  During my time at Southwestern Medical School, I had the opportunity to know lots of great physicians.  I must say Dr. White is the most artistic and “smartest” person I have ever met.

I would like to say, once more, that Dr. White and his staff are very professional and the Best of the Best.  I will always remember them and the wonderful change that was made to my body and my life.

I didn’t waste anytime calling and getting an appointment.  Dr. White spends as much time as needed to answer all your questions --- and questions you probably didn’t know to ask.  He makes you feel like you are his only patient.  He NEVER rushes you in or out!  He listens to you --- your wants and your desires for yourself.  Then he goes and makes it happen --- better than you ever imagined!

Being a breast cancer survivor with several breast reconstructions by other plastic surgeons, I have found that Dr. White’s talent and caring are unparalleled.  I recently had a “tummy tuck” and now have the best figure in my life at age 58!  I went from a size a size 10 regular to either a size 4 regular or 6 petite!  I can even fit into my daughter’s junior size 5/6 skirts!  Prior to my surgery, I had a large vertical C-section scar.  That scar is now gone --- unbelievable!

Dr. White also demonstrates his expertise by anticipating and thus avoiding possible surgical complications.  He does excellent pre-op teaching and explains what the surgery will involve as well as the post-op course.  As a result, I had a very smooth recovery.  While I was in the hospital, he came in every day.  He even came in the night of my surgery and helped me get out of bed the first time post-op.  Dr. White is the best and I would not want any other plastic surgeon in the future.

I look better than I ever have in years --- and I owe it all to him.  I get compliments everywhere I go about how great I look.  Shopping for clothes has never been more fun.  I used to dread going to the mall because I hated what I saw in the mirror.  Now shopping has become my favorite thing to do!

Well, where should I begin?  I have so much to say!

I looked fine before my two plastic surgeries, however, now I look totally awesome!  I could never thank you enough, Dr. White.  It has been 3 months and 12 days since my last surgery and I have lost 3 inches in my waist and 1 1/2 inches in each thigh and my stomach is completely flat! 

Last month I went to Colorado to see my oldest brother and his family.  He couldn’t believe it when he saw me.  He went on and on about my appearance.  He is a sports medicine physician and a perfectionist just like you Dr. White. He told me I looked perfect!  He said my stomach looked like I was a 15 year old teenager.  Wow!  That’s great considering I’m 36 years old. 

When my fiancée and I were in Las Vegas, we went with another couple to see ‘Showgirls’ (topless show) at the Rio. About 5 minutes into the show, my fiancée leaned over to me and said, “I’m going to play blackjack, I can see big gorgeous breasts anytime --- I’m out of here”.  I could go on and on about my stories, however I believe my point has gotten across. 

I didn’t get both of my surgeries because I had low self-esteem and didn’t like my body.  I got the surgery to make myself look better than I already looked.  I could not be more pleased with the outcome.  You are a genuine craftsman in every respect.

Thank you Dr. White.  From the first time I met you, I felt so comfortable.  You asked me about me and my family and you actually talked to me, unlike most doctors. These surgeries are very intimate and personal and you have the perfect demeanor.  I wouldn’t have done all these procedures with anyone else.  I cannot express enough how meticulous and caring of a doctor I feel you are. True patient care has become quite a cliché’ in today’s society … but when it comes to Dr. White, it couldn’t be more genuine.

I am a 26 year old male who needed a tummy tuck.  The problem was there are few to no 26 year old MEN who have had one.  Herein lies the problem:  I found thousands of women who have gone through the procedure, but not men.  Obviously, this made me very apprehensive.  So I performed as much research as I could on my own and studied everything I could get my hands on … but still could not find any research about Tummy Tucks on Men.  So, I decided to go on several consultations with several publicly recognized Cosmetic and Plastic Surgeons.  Each appointment I went on was the same:  Talk to a receptionist in the consult room for 15 minutes about the surgery, anesthesia, recovery, etc… the doctor comes in and looks at me for a minute or two, asks me if I have questions, and I’m done.  In and out in about 20 minutes.  I thought this was the norm. 

I heard about Dr. White through a relative, and went on a consultation.  Dr. White spent an hour and a half with me explaining not just about how the surgery is performed, but why it’s performed the way it is.  He walked me through step by step every point during the surgery.  He told me that his full tummy tucks are done in a hospital and not in an outpatient center.  He told me that he uses real anesthesiologists only.  He made me feel like his only patient.  This was so inconsistent with the other doctors. 

Dr. White told me that male tummy tucks are uncommon, but he showed me the differences between this procedure on a man and a woman.  He showed me the attention to detail that he has during surgery … that my surgery would take as long as it should to get the best possible results the safest way possible.  He told me about all of the preventative measures he takes to ensure my safety during the procedure … something that the other doctors didn’t do.  He told me that the follow-up visits are crucial, that I needed to see him as often as twice per week in the first two or three weeks following surgery to ensure that my body was handling the surgery OK.  The other doctors told me that I would need to come one time three weeks after surgery, but to call if I had any problems.  Do you think this is where the “true patient care” cliché’ was born?  I think so. 

Aside from a perfect surgery with a phenomenal result, is my self-esteem.  I wanted this procedure done for so many different reasons.  Dr. White TRULY understood me and shares in my elation.  The best part of all is that I have made a new friend … Someone who I believe truly cares.  Not just someone who says so in a brochure.

From the initial consultation through the pre-op visit, Dr. White made sure he answered any questions I had (as well as those I did not know to ask).  I left his office excited at the prospect of the new me and confident that I was in the best hands possible.

For 19 years, I planned the demise of my marsupial pouch that hung on my abdomen after pregnancy.  That event occurred on July 18th, 2006!  From the first day I walked into Dr. White’s office, met his office staff, and then him, I knew that I had made an excellent choice.  I left there feeling confident of his skills and cancelled my other consultations.

Now, if you would ask any of my family, friends, or co-workers, they would tell you I am very cautious and never go into anything without covering all the angles first.  Being a nurse and working in a large hospital, I was very aware of all the things that can go wrong.  I felt very guilty and fearful of having elective surgery. 

Surgery day went off just as described and I felt like a Queen.  Dr. White was there for me before, during, and after my surgery.  His attention to the littlest details, from pre-surgery, surgery, and post -surgery, was impressive and shows in the final results!  When I speak with other plastic surgery patients, I find that this attention is not the norm.  At times you find that you are anxious “to just get the whole recovery period over with,” but it is worth the extra attention to detail in the end results.

Dr. White surrounds himself with professionals that hold his same philosophy.  At the hospital, you find attentive and compassionate care.  His office staff are friendly and care about you as a person; sharing in your excitement as your body changes.

Last but not least…PAIN…they say that the recovery period from an abdominoplasty or tummy tuck is the hardest and most painful procedure of any plastic surgery.  One friend that had the same procedure six months before me, but not by the same doctor, compared her pain to “worse than her cesarean section”!  It can be, but Dr. White makes sure that his patients don’t experience that pain.  I sing praises about Dr. White and his pain pump.  The day after my surgery, I was taking Tylenol for discomfort.  I might have taken a Lortab at night to help me sleep, but certainly not for the pain!

I love my new tummy!  My family and friends can’t believe how “tiny” I look.

I am a single man, age 48. I’ve worked-out for years. My chest, arms and legs showed the results of hours spend in the gym.  But no matter what I did, the abs only got worse.

I can’t begin to tell you how much you have exceeded my expectations Dr. White.  As a mother of two, I adore my children, but hate what two pregnancies had done to my mid-section.  I was left with stretch marks that resembled a roadmap and so much loose skin that it formed an unsightly pouch.  I came to realize that no amount of exercise would flatten my sagging stomach, and that a tummy tuck was the only solution.

The care I received has been phenomenal, from start to finish, starting with your office staff, who feels like extended family.  You’re such a perfectionist, that you even instructed the nurses at the hospital on how to position me on the bed, and precisely how to get me into and out of bed.  And NO ONE was more surprised than I was when you came to the hospital to check on me at 11 o’clock at night!  This alone, reassured me that not only are you the best, but you truly care about your patients!

And what about my results?  Well, as an African-American, I was nervous about how the scar would turn out since we tend to have keloid scars.  However, this fear was unfounded because I have the tiniest, thinnest line of a scar!  Oh, and the absolute best part … my belly button looks like it did before my kids were born.  I am now shopping for a bikini!!

I had just come through a divorce and was not feeling great about my body.  I came to Dallas on a visit and started looking into the idea of a tummy tuck.  I did some research and Dr. White kept coming up.  I begged for an appointment (as he was very booked) before going back home.  Dr. White and his staff were wonderful.  He was very friendly and it felt like I’d known him forever.  He explained everything in detail and I did not feel like he was rushing me to see the next patient.  I went back home and thought about it.  Living in the New York area, I had great doctors but I did not feel comfortable.  They would send me home immediately after surgery.  Dr. White insisted on at least 1 night in the hospital.

After coming back to Dallas, I scheduled my surgery.  I felt very confident and trusted Dr. White.  He came to see me every day in the hospital.  I opted to stay extra days in the hospital because I didn’t have a full-time caregiver.  Dr. White was mine for that time.  He even showed up on a Saturday night.  Who would do that just to check up on you?

Since the birth of my two children (ages 7 and 5), I have spent countless hours in the gym or pounding the pavement.  I have run three marathons and am very fit.  But, no matter how hard I have exercised, how well I eat or how many lotions and skin firming creams I have tried …there was no getting rid of the excess skin on my abdomen.  The stretch marks that my handsome son created, and my beautiful daughter perpetuated, had left me with no elasticity in the skin on my abdomen.  Every year I would tell myself that I had worked hard and that I deserved to have the abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) I desired.  However, I never felt comfortable with any of the numerous doctors I researched and met, and I thus I would talk myself out of it, telling myself that it wasn’t my lack of comfort with the doctors, but that it just wasn’t the time to finally indulge myself.  So, I would spend another bikini season in one-piece suits, artfully hiding the part of my body I hated the most.  I spend too much time in front of the mirror pulling and tugging the skin this way and that until my tummy looked like it did when I got it just right.  The minute I let the skin down I would be crestfallen again, dressing as quickly as possible, hoping out of sight would make it out of mind for a while. 

My best friend has a body part she has wanted to fix for a while as well, so one Sunday we decided to head down to the Cosmetic Surgery Expo at Market Center.  We arrived just in time to listen to a lecture by one of  D Magazine’s Top Doc’s and after the lecture we migrated with the crowd to listen to him speak further about his techniques, attention to detail, and high level of perfectionism.  We asked questions and spoke with him for more than an hour and what impressed us most is that he loved answering the questions, speaking in length and detail about various procedures.  That day I met Dr. Steven J. White, and I knew then I had met the doctor who would do my coveted tummy tuck. 

Soon after that fateful day I received the diagnosis that at the young age of 30, I would have to have a hysterectomy.  Years of putting the tummy tuck off came to an end when I learned that the opportune time to have the tummy tuck would be at the same time as the hysterectomy.  I figured that I was going to turn something that was sad for me (the hysterectomy) in to something that would make me happy, the tummy tuck I had always wanted.  From there your staff and my gynecologist’s office arranged the details and I just showed up.  Everything just fell in to place.

After gaining 50% of my body weight with both pregnancies, and having two C-Sections (two separate incisions --- one vertical and one horizontal) my stomach was a mess. 

When my daughter went off to college, I started a vigorous exercise program to get my stomach back into shape.  I exercised three to four times a week for 3 years.  I felt better, but my stomach looked the same --- ugly!  I finally got the names of several plastic surgeons from friends.  I went to several consults and made the decision to go with Dr. White.

Dr. White was confident, experienced, and the best in his field.  Talk about being picky!  His attention to detail is amazing.  Dr. White took the time to explain the surgery and the recovery.  He didn’t leave anything out.  His bedside manner is amazing.  Dr. White truly loves what he does and it shows.

Four weeks after the surgery, my beautiful, 21 year old daughter came home from college to check on me.  She wanted to see Dr. White’s masterpiece.  We were standing in front of a mirror looking at my beautiful, flat and perfectly-shaped stomach when she pulled up her shirt to compare tummies.  (52 year old mother and 21 year old daughter comparing tummies --- PRICELESS!)  A couple of weeks later she was babysitting for one of her professors.  His wife asked how I was doing and what my stomach looked like.  My daughter said, “My Mom’s stomach looks like mine!”

As a physician myself, it is clear to me that Dr. White is extremely knowledgeable and keeps up with the latest advances in techniques.  Dr. White genuinely cares about achieving the very best outcome for each and every patient.  He graciously accommodated my need to have the elective surgery when I had time off from my own practice, which happened to be over the Thanksgiving Holidays. 

He is very meticulous in his surgical techniques, taking great care to customize the chosen procedure to each patient’s body type and to achieve the very best outcome.  The hospital nurses who also cared for me after my surgery commented to me that he has a reputation in the hospital for being an exceptional surgeon. 

Because he spends so much time to customize his surgery they usually take longer.  He is willing to spend the extra time …which pays off greatly for his fortunate patient. 

I was amazed at how taunt and flat my abdomen was after surgery.   He stated he would tighten my abdominal muscles --- however the outcome was far better than I had hoped for.  Another thing I’ve been very happy with is how he got rid of my “saddle bags” that I have been embarrassed about all my life --- even in high school.  I love how the outcome looks so natural; it looks as though I just never had them.  I will trust Dr. White for any cosmetic procedure I may elect to do in the future!

I lost 50 lbs before my tummy tuck.  I was in bad need of this surgery.  Although I lost so much weight, my tummy was still big.  You did a super job.  Dr. White, you helped my go from a size 20 (pre-diet) to a perfect size 9.  And my new belly button couldn’t be cuter!

Before surgery I was mostly concerned with pain and recovery --- but it was a snap.  I convinced a friend to come take care of me the week after surgery because I was afraid I would be in bed in pain.  I was not.  I had little pain after surgery.  The “magic” pain pump is truly magic.   After my hospital stay, I spent a few days in a recliner, but I was completely able to take care of myself. 

Your bedside manner is amazing.  You honestly care for each of your patients.  I loved that you came to help me walk after surgery and the fact that you took time out of your busy day to call and check on me after surgery.

It is 4 ½ months after surgery and I am completely healed.  I feel great physically and emotionally.  And I look great too … if I may say. 

I just spent a week on the Mayan Riviera.   For the first time in my life, I wore a bikini.  And I didn’t just wear it --- I spent the week in my bikini!  I loved every minute of it.  For the first time in10 years, I feel confident in a swimsuit!

I am a busy finance executive of a Fortune 500 company with a CPA and MBA.  I have worked in the business world for 23 years.  I have mostly relied on my intelligence to navigate life on the planet, but have been blessed also with feeling fine about my looks --- except for a strong dislike for the skin on my tummy.  For over 15 years, since the birth of my last child, I have regularly thought about having a tummy tuck to correct what I felt were very unsightly marks.  At the same time, I was ambivalent because I equated having plastic surgery with a lack of depth of character or even shallowness, and I wrestled with overcoming that bias. 

Over the past five years, I began visiting plastic surgeons and aestheticians and dermatologists about my case, but never came away with a feeling of hope or “partnership” from anyone.  One doctor even made jokes about what little he could do to help me, unless I first gained 300 pounds!  That was a low point for me.  After all, this investigation was not just about beauty; it was more about confidence, and since this was about my body and my life, it was certainly no laughing matter to me!  I wanted and needed a competent doctor who understood that.

My brother is a doctor and I also have a good friend who is a doctor.  After visiting with my friend, I was referred to Dr. White, and after having decided to have surgery performed by Dr. White, I was elated to find out Dr. White is a highly respected friend and colleague of my brother’s! 

I am blessed with fine children, and my daughter actually encouraged me to get the surgery after watching plastic surgery shows on TV.  Once I told my sister I was having the surgery, she commented to me her encouragement, even noting, “You have the worst stomach I’ve ever seen…you need to get this done!”  The comments and sometimes painful encouragement of these people made a huge difference for me in overcoming the bias I had been feeling about plastic surgery.

When I first met Dr. White, I was extremely impressed with his patience and kindness, as well as his skill and the perfectionist tendencies he exhibited in his work!  I was also impressed with the professionalism and knowledge of his staff.  On the first visit, he spent over 2 hours with me, just answering my questions and talking about expectations with MY case!  

I have to say that after the surgery, I am very impressed by the results.  As I exercised regularly before, I was not a large person to start with, so not many people can really tell I had the procedure … but they can tell that I look wonderful, and I am regularly greeted by their compliments (I did lose about 5 pounds) which I like!

My stomach is now tight enough to bounce a quarter on, and the marks on my skin are diminished, fewer, and also lower on my abdomen.  This is definitely helping me with my confidence.  I do like the way I look, and I feel like Dr. White helped me to restore myself to a certain degree to the person I rightly am and was before children!  It’s amazing and wonderful to have been given the opportunity, and important too, especially as I have been divorced for the past two years.  I feel now that having the surgery is giving me a welcome boost of confidence to greet what comes next in life!

I have wanted to have a tummy tuck for 19 years, after my first son was born, but always felt like it was too extreme of a surgery to have chosen to go through.  But after so many years of being unhappy with the way I looked and felt about myself, I decided to do some research.  I did not want just any doctor, I wanted the best.  Even after surgery, I still feel like I had the best with Dr. White.  His attention to detail is amazing.  The way he goes above and beyond what most doctors would do, I would not hesitate to do it again.

Dr. White, it has taken me awhile to put in words what is in my heart.  Your TEAM succeeds in life altering surgeries and decisions every day.  The physical and emotional aspect of those surgeries is easily identifiable and an immediate result from the surgery.

However, do you realize that you make spiritual changes as well?  My physical appearance, my emotional boost of self esteem and self confidence is apparent to old friends and acquaintances.  The real change goes so much deeper than that and for those people that live an “emotional” life like I do, it is an actual spiritual change.

When I showed my cousin how great I looked and told her about my awesome recovery, the look on her face was devastating.  She lifted her shirt and showed me how her surgeon had treated her.  I was in shock.  A prominent surgeon with excellent referrals butchered her.  There is no other term for it.  She knew it wasn’t “normal” but couldn’t find anyone to support her and show her proof that her surgery was not a success.

I wanted to share with you a shopping experience I had resulting from my lipo surgery.  Having had liposuction in my genetic problem areas has truly altered the problems I always encountered when shopping for jeans.  I recently was in the department store shopping for jeans --- as the ‘Misses’ jeans I purchased 2 weeks ago are now too big!  And to my surprise, I found myself needing jeans in the ‘Juniors’ section!  Normally, being in ‘Juniors’ was not unusual when looking for a top.  But this time, I was looking for jeans!  Yes, I actually needed junior size jeans!!!    And what was more incredible --- I needed a size 0 in a particular jean I purchased!!!!  I nearly fainted when I put them on and they fit beautifully.

I wanted to relay to you the magnitude of happiness I’m experiencing --- and I owe it all to you!   Even though I eat clean and exercise as part of my daily routine, medical intervention was definitely warranted to get the results I’ve always been looking for.  And YOU were definitely the Super Doctor to do it.  You will always be at the top of my “most fascinating people list”.  You are engaging, magnetic, and quite brilliant, Dr. Steven White.  Thank you for allowing the butterfly in me to soar high!!!!

It’s been 5 months since my surgery, Dr. White.  How time flies!  Just wanted to say thank you for the awesome care I received from day one.  You and your staff are in a league of their own!

I began my personal journey 4 years ago.  I did not want to turn 50 and be out of shape and overweight.  I begin to eat right and exercise regularly.  I truly had to change my outlook and life choices.  During the past 4 years I dropped over 80 pounds.  Went from size 18 to size 4 … I never imagined.  I had 2 c-sections in the early 80’s and even with all the exercise and yoga the skin on my stomach just hung.  I began to look into plastic surgeons. 

I visited 3 surgeons’ offices, sometimes never meeting the doctor only his nurses.  When I called your office, your staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and a step above.  My first appointment was amazing --- every question answered.  I actually met the doctor! There was no pressure to make a decision that day.  Just a thank you for considering Dr. White!! 

I walked out of the office and told my husband “I don’t know when I will have this surgery --- but this will be the man.”  I could sense his passion and confidence in his practice.  This was so reassuring, even though the cost was more than other surgeons, that was a secondary thought.  I knew I deserved the best for all my personal accomplishments.  And I found him.  One month later, I was undergoing my extended tummy tuck. 

I still remember that morning on the way getting nervous.  When I got to the hospital, the staff asked what surgery I was having, when I told them extended tummy tuck…next question…who is your doctor?  When I said Dr. White, they said he is the best --- you are so lucky. I was still nervous but when Dr. White showed up with his enthusiasm for the day ahead of us I knew everything would be okay.

That evening around midnight Dr. White showed up in my hospital room.  He said “I am here to help you get up for the first time.”  I was delightfully surprised.  He also showed me my new belly and belly button.  Wow! … was I shocked.  I looked amazing!!  He then said “you’re still swollen.” 

After spending 2 nights at the hospital I was sent home to heal.  I had a few concerns with my meds.  We had to call Dr. White in the late evening.  Each time he returned our calls in just minutes, listening to every concern and informed us how to handle each situation.  He then thanked me for calling saying “that’s what I’m here for.”

I actually wear a bikini!!  I kept saying I would never wear one!  Shopping is a new world!!

I only wish I had cameras running for the past 4 years so the whole world could see this transformation with their own eyes.   Friends and family cannot believe the new me.  If I had to do it all over again, I would not change a thing.  The timing, my attitude and outlook was for right now!!

Thank you Dr. White for the outward masterpiece you created.  I feel like a piece of art that the artist has sculpted. 

One word of advice I can give to someone considering this surgery is take the advice of the doctor.  Follow everything he says to do.  Do your best for Dr. White is doing his very best for you.  You will not be disappointed!!!

After several years of dieting and exercising and no luck in getting rid of my stomach, I knew that I would eventually have to have a tummy tuck.  I also knew that it was a “big operation” and not one to be taken lightly.  After consultations with several prestigious plastic surgeons, it was obvious to my husband and me that Dr. White was the only one we would consider.  From my first encounter with Dr. White and his staff, all of our questions – even those we didn’t think to ask – were answered thoroughly and patiently.  We knew exactly what to expect throughout the surgery and healing process.

What we didn’t expect was how truly conscientious Dr. White would be from pre-op through follow-up.  His midnight visits to the hospital the first night after surgery, his personally helping me get up and walk the hall for the first time following surgery, his phone call to our home to ensure I was doing OK, his treating my husband and I as valued patients rather than just another case file – these were just a few of so many large and small things that Dr. White did that made this a truly remarkable experience.

Dr. White is extremely talented, personable, conscientious, detail-oriented, and totally dedicated to the welfare of his patients.  He is a true artist and perfectionist and it shows in the pride he takes in his work and follow-up care.  All these attributes along with his sense of humor helped make this a phenomenal experience.

The only regret I have following tummy tuck surgery is that I waited so long to decide to have it done.  And best of all, my stomach at age 62 is now flatter than it’s ever been in my life!  Dr. White is a truly gifted physician.

I picked Dr. White because I sensed, in him, qualities that I would expect from a surgeon, an advisor, and just from another human being.  I detected compassion, enthusiasm and something very important to me, attention to detail.  I can relate to attention to detail.  I use it in my work, and I wanted someone who would sweat the details, like I do.  Sure enough, he did.  When I felt like my eye looked droopy, even just millimeters, he didn’t waste any time.  He responded immediately.  When I panicked over my implants being so high, he took the time to explain to me the process, again.  Both of these issues have resolved themselves beautifully, just as he said they would.

Not only was his attention to detail better than with any other surgeon I had spoken to, but his enthusiasm was different too.  He seemed to appreciate that I wanted to look good for me and that I was interested in a pre-emptive strike, a little prevention.  This enthusiasm also showed in his level of care.  The late night hospital visit, the phone call at home, responding quickly to my weekend page, the many follow up visits …all are a testament to his level of care.

Plastic surgery was only something that I recently decided to do.  I did extensive research on the procedures I desired prior to embarking on looking for a physician.  I came across Dr. White in a rather unusual way.  My husband and I were looking through a D Magazine and came across an advertisement about him.  My sister-in-law happened to be looking over my shoulder and made the idle remark that she knew Dr. White’s work, as many of her co-workers had procedures done by him and looked great.  Based on her comment alone, I decided to start with Dr. White.  After my initial consultation, my husband and I knew who was going to perform the procedures I wanted done.  I visited 2 other doctors to be sure my instincts, as well as my husband’s were correct, and they were.  I must commend Dr. White and the approach he makes to his practice; I have never seen such a passionate and devoted physician as he.  To spend the amount of time he did just on my initial consultation was remarkable.

The procedures I had done were breast augmentation, liposuction and a mini-tummy tuck.  I initially went in for just the breast augmentation and liposuction.  I was shocked at the recommendation of the mini-tummy tuck as I thought the liposuction would be enough.  Dr. White strongly suggested the mini and stated I would not be satisfied with my results without it.  That was the best decision I made, next to selecting Dr. White.  As for my breast size, I left that to Dr. White and just indicated I wanted to be proportionate to my body type and size.  They are perfect.  The most amazing thing for me is the minimal amount of pain and bruising I experienced post procedure.  Because of his attention to detail and strive for perfection, my healing was been phenomenal.

If anyone ever asks, I will ALWAYS recommend Dr. White for plastic surgery procedures.  My results to date have far exceeded all my expectations.  My husband and I would like to thank Dr. White, and his staff, from the bottom of our hearts for all they have done before, during and after my procedure.  Thank you so much!

I struggled with this because I knew in my heart what I wanted to say, but I couldn’t think of the words I wanted to use that hadn’t already been said or sounded cliché-ish.  I started thinking about the difference between what Dr. White accomplishes and what other plastic surgeons do and it brought to mind the difference between a cook and a chef.  A cook is someone who can prepare food that will supply the nourishment that a body needs.  But a chef is someone who prepares food not just for nourishment, but for pleasure.  Chefs use basic food items to create a masterpiece that is not only pleasing to the taste, but to the eye.  Chefs create from their heart and, if you’ve ever watched them in action, really enjoy the process of producing something special.  That is exactly how Dr. White performs – he puts his heart into what he is doing for people and obviously enjoys what he does.  He is not just a doctor and a surgeon – he is an artist.  What he is able to accomplish is more than can be learned in any classroom or from any textbook.  His talent comes from God.

I was referred to Dr. White by a friend who had used him for two different procedures and had nothing but good things to say.  The first time I met Dr. White, I immediately understood what my friend was talking about.  Dr. White is friendly – instantly treating you as if he has known you all his life (that’s that Texas upbringing!) – and professional in his dress and mannerisms.  He spends as much time with you as necessary – even if it causes his schedule to back up – explaining everything he is doing in easy-to-understand terms and descriptions.  He answers questions thoroughly – although not always giving you the answer you want! – and explains the reason for his answers.  He involves all your family members and support people in the entire procedure.  He’s like a coach of a team – explaining the plays, the expectations, and the desired outcomes.  Dr. White made me feel comfortable about my decision to proceed with the surgery from the first time we met.

Dr. White’s main focus is his patients.  This was evident not only during my pre-op visits, but after surgery, too.  He visited me every day in the hospital, always smiling and encouraging me along the way.  He even put up with a few after hours panic calls once I got home and my family had to do everything without the wonderful hospital staff.  Dr. White’s excitement and encouragement has continued throughout all the post-op office visits weeks after surgery. 

I am pleased beyond words with the result of my surgery and the support of Dr. White, his incredible office staff, and my family.  The decision to have a plastic surgery procedure was out of character for me, but I am glad I did it.  And if I ever decide to have another procedure, Dr. White will be the first person I will call!

I had 3 doctors on my list to consult before having a tummy tuck and liposuction of my outer thighs.  Dr. White was the first doctor I consulted.  He was very thorough and explained everything so I could understand it.  He answered all my questions and was very informative about the procedures I inquired about.  He was honest and up front with me about everything. 

Needless to say I had no need to consult any other doctors after consulting with Dr. White.  The other 2 doctors were scratched from my list, and my decision was made when I left his office that first day that Dr. White would be my surgeon.  From the consultation, to the surgery, to the recuperation, everything was exactly as it was explained to me.

Dr. White and his expectations are well known at Presbyterian Hospital of Plano.  I can’t count the times I heard nurses, techs, and other staff state that I was Dr. White’s patient, and how things should be done a certain way because he is so particular.  I can’t tell you how comforting it was to hear those comments just before being put to sleep. 

I was a little skeptical when Dr. White wanted to stop the pain pills after the first day.  He said I would feel a little rough the first evening, and the next day I would feel better, and would feel better with each day.  It was exactly as he said it would be.

I am extremely pleased with the results of my surgery so far.   Dr. White tells me it will only get better because I am still swollen (It has only been 19 days since my surgery).  Dr. White went above and beyond my expectations and told me he even surprised himself a little on what he could achieve on my particular procedure.

Dr. White and his staff have made me feel as if I am his only patient every time I have come in.  I have never felt rushed, or like he has other patients to see (and I know he does).  Dr. White won the confidence of my family, and made them feel confident before, during, and after my surgery.  That in itself is a major accomplishment, with my family.  My satisfaction with Dr. White, his staff, and my surgery is off the charts.  I now feel like part of the family, and will definitely be back for future procedures I am interested in having done.  I just can’t say enough about my experience with Dr. White.

P.S. I quit a 44 year smoking habit of a pack a day for this surgery!  I credit Dr. White for this, since he will not do a tummy tuck on smokers.

My first thoughts of liposuction instilled feelings of excitement, fear and anxiety at the same time.  I was excited when I imagined how I would look after surgery and scared to death when I thought about the actual process.  I met other doctors, but never left those consultations with any certainty that I understood the procedure or what to expect.  I spoke to friends who had liposuction and walked away with an arsenal full of horror stories!  They told me all about the pain, swelling, misery and scarring.  Most of them had ¼ inch to ½ inch incisions.  I was just about ready to forego the idea of surgery, and then I met Dr. White.

I scheduled a consultation with Dr. White.  On the day of the appointment I talked a friend into going with me.  It was her job to make sure I walked away with all my questions answered.  After a few hours with Dr. White, I had all the answers I needed.  I was blown away by his honesty and impressed by his knowledge and experience.  By the end of the consultation, every fear, every doubt, and all uncertainty disappeared.  Dr. White put me at ease and I knew I was in good hands.

I experienced some of the funniest moments in my life during this process!  From the “before” photos in front of the “blue wall” to being prepped for surgery, I can honestly say I had a great time!  And who knew they play rock and roll in the OR!  Friends and family kept asking prior to the day of surgery if I was nervous or scared.  I kept thinking I would be scared once I was being rolled into the operating room.  But I never felt uncomfortable and I was never scared.

After surgery I was moved to a hospital room in case I needed to spend the night.  Dr. White took every precaution with me because my surgery took longer than expected.  As I woke up from surgery I felt some pain and discomfort, but really only a “four” on a scale of “ten”.  I remember thinking, “This isn’t bad at all”.  At about ten o’clock that night, Dr. White came to see me at the hospital.  I was thrilled to see his smiling face walk through the door.  He has such a calming presence and reassuring way about him.  I even caught the glimmer in his eye when he saw that I was doing so well.  I am happy to say I came through like a champ!  I even went home late that night.

Recovery has been so easy because I have done everything that Dr. White instructed.  I did bruise more that the average person but I never experienced horrible discomfort.  Just seeing the progress after surgery makes everything worth it!  Each and every day I notice improvements.  It has only been four weeks and I am back in size 4!  (By the way, I am still shrinking!!)  The follow up appointments are such an encouragement.  Not only is my health being attended to, but I walk away inspired to keep up the good work!

Dr. White emphasizes detail, precision, and accuracy.  Each of these is portrayed in his work.  He takes the extra time and effort to make sure the result is exactly what you wanted.  Although a perfectionist, he balances his technical expertise with a kind heart and personal attention.

There is such a difference in my attitude and self confidence.  Prior to surgery, I was complacent and unhappy.  My self image was damaged and I did not feel comfortable participating in the things I used to love.  I gave up hobbies, friends, and volunteer opportunities because I didn’t feel good about myself.  I didn’t know how to be a blessing to others when I didn’t like the person that stared back at me in the mirror.  Dr. White gave me the courage to take my life back --- and for that I am forever grateful.

This may very well be one of the hardest things I have every put to paper.  I have started this note, in my head, over and over, yet always coming to the same conclusion; “Words just don’t seem adequate to express my feelings about my tummy tuck”. 

When I got the news that I would have to have a hysterectomy and there would be another cut to my child-bearing ravaged abdomen, I knew that I had been given the opportunity to have the tummy tuck I had dreamed about for years.  I asked my gynecologist for some references and began the process.  We narrowed the search to two names, given the credentials we had checked and the information we had. I scheduled my first consultation with another Plastic Surgeon, had my meeting, and left not feeling very confident about the time we had spent together.

Then on to my first meeting with you and your staff.  From the first minutes in your office, I was welcomed and put at such ease with the process.  When you introduced yourself and began telling me your philosophy on work ethic and diligence, I was immediately confident that I had met someone with my same standard of dedication to detail.  As we talked about how you would follow my gynecologist in the operating room and the great concern you had for setting a surrounding that would insure the best outcome for me, I was put further at ease.  You allowed me to ask all the questions I could think of, and then you filled in with all the expertise you had amassed over the years.  When I left that first visit, I was sure you would be my choice of surgeons for my much anticipated tummy tuck.

The day of “pictures”, you and your staff were so careful to keep me comfortable with the process.  As scheduling time for the surgery approached, your wonderful staff even took care of that for me.  Dealing with a doctor outside of the Presbyterian Hospital, your staff made all the calls to coordinate the schedules between both doctors, found the most reasonable surgical unit, and set the schedule for the surgery.  I simply waited for the phone call telling me that it had all been arranged and what I would need to do next.  Two days before surgery, you met with my husband and me, making sure that he was as comfortable with the process as I had become.  You allowed him to ask all the questions he could think of, and then again, you filled in all that he would need to know as to what to expect and how he would care for me after surgery.  I left that day telling you that you had my “complete confidence”.

Morning of surgery:  You met me at the hospital to make sure you had done all the pre-surgical marking you needed to do to ensure the best outcome for me.  Then you sat and waited until my gynecologist had finished and you moved in to do your work.  And that is where my words fall short.  I knew my tummy would look better and you would do the very best that could be done, but I had no idea that it would turn out as well as it has.  Best expressed by my husband “It’s as if you were a canvas waiting for an artist to do a magnificent work, and Dr. White was the artist, and he has done beautiful work.”  I could not be happier with the choice that I made both to do the tummy tuck and with you as my surgeon.

The post surgical care has been given with the same attention to detail and concern for the best outcome for me.  I have been checked on often, had follow up visits, and have been cared for when I had questions.

Everything that you told me would happen has happened.  My appetite has diminished, allowing me to loose extra weight since the surgery.  Friends and family can’t get over the change in me, and I have recommended you to all that ask.  In fact, I am so pleased with the outcome, that as I write this note, I am about 5 days out from having a breast lift to complete the project!  I am grateful for your artistry.  Can’t wait to see the outcome!

I want to convey a special heartfelt thanks and my gratitude to Dr. Steven White, his nursing, and office staff for their warmness to make me feel like a real person who really does matter --- and not just another patient number.

Dr. White is such a genuine treasure as a person who really cares about his patients prior to, during, and after surgery has been performed with weekly and monthly follow-ups.  He takes a great deal of his time to insure that each one of his patients are educated regarding their procedures and expectations (without hurrying) and always pays special attention to every detail to ensure the best results possible.

He amazes and astounds me.  While most doctors are spending their off-time playing golf or doing some other activities, Dr. White is visiting his patients in the hospital, calling them at home to check on them, or still working when not operating on weekends to attend seminars that will further his education and improve those heavenly skills for which he is so noted today --- being double board certified and listed as one of the best doctors in Dallas and Texas by the media.  It’s no wonder that his patients come from all over the U.S. and out of the country.

Initially, I accompanied my daughter for her pre-op breast and tummy tuck appointment.  At that time, I never dreamed that at the age of 62 there was also hope for me to shed unwanted years of massive abdominal protruding and overhanging skin.  I never hesitated and scheduled my surgery for one month ahead … and today without regrets.

The surgery was performed successfully and my results have been more that I had ever hoped.  He has given me back the tummy of my teenage years --- comparable to my daughter’s well-contoured tummy.  After only 3 months, I have lost 20 lbs --- dropped from a size 16 to a size 10-12 (and still dropping weight) --- and getting lots of compliments.  I lost all the ugly, unsightly, aged skin --- including the scar from a previous appendectomy!

I have already given your name to my friends and would recommend you in a heartbeat minute to anyone else.  If I decide to have any other cosmetic surgery performed, it would be a no-brainer --- you are my first and only choice.  Thanks so much for giving me my life back!
